Brookside Boys' Brigade

A Brief History on The Boys' Brigade

The Boys' Brigade was founded by Sir William Alexander Smith on the 4th of October 1883 in Glasgow. The aim from the beginning was to encourage discipline and self respect for the boys.

Today the aims of the Boys' Brigade remain the same and the motto of The Boys' Brigade is 'Sure and Steadfast'. Boys' will work towards badges that encourage their development of new and existing skills that they have. All boys will receive Christian teaching during their time in the company.

The 4th Peterborough Boys' Brigade company is attached to Brookside Methodist Church and is part of the South Lincolnshire Battalion in the East Midlands district of the BB in the UK.

The 4th Peterborough was formed in February 1974 by the late Mr D Parkin and was part of New England Methodist Church. In 1976 when New England Church was merged to become part of Brookside, the company transferred to Brookside.

We meet on Thursday evenings between 6:00pm and 7:30pm for 5-11 year olds and 6:45pm and 8:30pm for 11-15 year olds.
